VDI® insertions are digitally created still and moving broadcast and video images created through a system of computers, signal processors, telemetry encoders, and computer software. VDI insertions often appear during the real-time transmission of a television broadcast and appear to be real or part of the broadcasted environment.

How does the Vistas system interface with the production?
- Vistas' tripods and instrumented lenses and heads are used in place of truck equipment
- EIC routes clean camera and any relevant audio effects groups (if necessary) and program video to Vistas' system
- Vistas' system returns protected “dirty” feeds back to the truck
What cameras are used in the production?
- Fixed-position production truck cameras equipped with Vistas' instrumented lenses and heads
- Vistas' instrumented lenses fit cameras with standard Sony lens mount
